Roasted Cabbage With Hot Honey

A delicious roasted cabbage recipe drizzled with hot honey, perfect for a side dish or main course.

Ingredients
  

  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 2 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
  • 1 whole green cabbage (2 1/2 - 3 pounds)
  • 1 medium red onion (cut into 8 wedges)
  • kosher salt
  • pepper
  • ¼ cup honey
  • 1 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes
  • 1 teaspoon dijon mustard
  • 1 teaspoon apple cider vinegar

Equipment

  • 1 12-inch skillet

Method
 

  1. Preheat oven to 425℉.
  2. Slice cabbage into 8 wedges keeping core intact.
  3. Add butter and oil to a 12" skillet, and place over heat to melt butter. Remove from heat.
  4. Add cabbage wedges and arrange to fit in the skillet.
  5. Sprinkle with a good pinch of salt and pepper.
  6. Slide them around to coat in fat.
  7. Flip them over and salt and pepper again.
  8. Add the onion slices, pushing them into the crevices to get coated with the oil and butter.
  9. Roast for 60 minutes, flipping halfway through.
  10. Meanwhile, add the honey and crushed red pepper into a small pan. Heat and bring just to a simmer then remove from heat.
  11. Remove from heat and stir in the mustard and vinegar.
